The Colorado Med Pay Senate Bill was put into effect on January 1, 2009.

The current Med Pay bill was proposed to replace no-fault coverage that was eliminated in 2003. The goal of the bill is to help protect Colorado residents who need medical attention following a car accident.

Med Pay requires insurance companies to cover residents with a minimum of $5,000 per person.

Med Pay covers residents involved in a collision, ultimately to cover medical expenses incurred as a result of the accident. Remember, $5,000 is just the minimum — Our patient care coordinator is here to assist in confirming your benefits and explaining all your options.

Med Pay is covered for all accident victims regardless of who’s at fault.

Your Med Pay policy is not conditional to who caused the accident. Whether you were the driver at fault, the passenger on the other side, or the unlucky driver at the other end of the collision, you’re covered by Med Pay (unless you signed to opt out of coverage).

Med Pay will cover “reasonable expenses” as outlined in the bill.

Generally, “reasonable expenses” including emergency transport, ER, surgery, doctor visit bills, pharmacy bills, chiropractic visit bills, physical therapy bills, and more. This coverage includes the care performed by our experts at DOC Personal Injury.

Med Pay can be immediately utilized regardless of additional health insurance.

Med Pay was created to remove the burden placed on people facing car accident injuries. As such, anyone can immediately access this free resource once an accident takes place, regardless if they carry additional health insurance coverage or not.
